Ethiopia

                                                              Ethiopia

Ethiopia is a country located in East Africa. It is known for unfortunately facing many natural disasters such as drought and flooding. Natural disasters can range from hazardous events, causing lives to either be lost or affected. However, many people confuse disasters with hazards and catastrophes. Hazards play a part in disasters, primarily when it comes to people's lives being at stake. However, a catastrophe is a massive disaster that requires mass amounts of money to recover over a long with plenty time.

Due to Ethiopia's economy being low-income, this can increase the chances of lives being lost and affected. For example, this can be seen in 2016, Ethiopia faced a horrific flood causing the lives of 200 people to be lost and over 200,000 Ethiopians to lose their homes. Showing how not only this natural disaster caused lives to be lost but as well as affected. Recently, from October 2021 to June 2022, Ethiopia faced a drought just 5 years later after the flood. This causes many Ethiopians to relocate to avoid the drought to save their crops and livestock. Relocation can often be difficult since these natural disasters occur in the southern and eastern parts of Ethiopia. Unfortunately, causing many lives are lost throughout the droughts they face due to losing their crops, livestock, and dehydration.
